LQ Newbie Registered: Dec 2008 Posts: 16 Rep: | Revisor -- Need More Information [Log in to get rid of this advertisement] Hello. I'm looking at Revisor as a way to create a "respin" live CD of Fedora, and there are some capabilities I need but Revisor might not have. I haven't yet found good, detailed documentation for these items yet.
Any assistance would be appreciated. |

LQ Newbie Registered: Dec 2008 Posts: 16 Original Poster Rep: | Thanks -- I had found that documentation. But I was looking for a detailed step-by-step which includes procedural examples, such as how to swap out the Fedora logos, exclude directories, or change the home page of the Firefox browser, etc. Most of the "How to Use Revisor" pages I've found are simply blog articles that introduce the reader to Revisor but have no depth. It'd also be nice to know how to actually make it work without crashing, and whether this problem: "An error occurred during the installation of the software you selected, and an additional error occurred trying to describe what went wrong exactly." ...is going to get fixed anytime soon. I get it just by trying to generate a completely simple, unmodified live media with Fedora 13. So maybe Revisor is just plain broken. I'm trying Revisor because I had hoped that a live CD production tool that is maintained by a team or a community of developers might be more reliable, up-to-date, and better documented than the "one man show" alternatives that are out there. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'd like to make a custom live CD using an application that is properly maintained, fully documented, functions without errors, and provides sufficient functionality to customize the resulting live CD as described above. |

LQ Newbie Registered: Dec 2008 Posts: 16 Original Poster Rep: | I've marked this as "solved" because I've discovered the best way to work with remastering Fedora live is with a kickstart file and livecd-creator instead of Revisor. Also, the "copy to RAM" cheatcode is "live_ram." Fedora Live runs pretty fast with that option (after it finally boots up, which does take a bit longer). I might post some kickstart questions in a new thread. Last edited by godzillarama; 06-29-2010 at 03:06 PM. |
