About

Fuduntu is a light hearted and fun Linux distribution that earns its name by its design to fit somewhere in-between Fedora and Ubuntu.  It is a Fedora remix optimized for Netbook and other portable computers.

Some of the tweaks found in Fuduntu:

  • CGroups shell tweak
  • Deadline IO scheduler

Fuduntu 14.9 Stable Released

Fuduntu 14.9 Stable has been released and is now available for download in ISO format, and also available as a regular update for existing Fuduntu users.

Distribution changes:
Fuduntu 14.9 integrates several new technologies unique to the distribution designed to improve the user experience.

The very first time you log in after installing Fuduntu, your desktop background will be randomly chosen from the backgrounds available in the Fuduntu Backgrounds package.

At the same time, and only once; your computer will be evaluated for it's ability to use Compiz and it will be enabled and optimized automatically if everything checks out.

Avant Window Navigator (AWN) is now the default bottom panel, the default configuration automatically adjusts AWN based on your computers ability to run Compiz.  If you would prefer to use a normal GNOME panel, simply select System > Preferences > Bottom Panel Chooser and select "Restore my bottom panel".  AWN will be stopped, and removed from startup, and a normal GNOME bottom panel will be applied to your desktop.

Fuduntu Linux and it looks like an interesting Fedora Based Distro. I don't have a Netbook or even a Laptop. But, I Downloaded it and tried Fuduntu out in Virtual Box. My VM Machines is running a Single Processor with 512 megabyte or Ram and 64 Megabyte of Video Memory and my Host Real Hardware is a 1.8Ghz Pentium Duo Core with 2.5GB of Memory and 512 megabytes of Video on a Radeon Video Card. Fuduntu ran just fine in this VM, but was a little slow. I have noticed that all Live Distros run a little slower in my VM than they do on a Comparable Real Hardware Machine. So, I think it would run just fine on the same Real Machine. See, my tow Posts with Screen Shots here...
