Adobe Flash For Linux Will Only Be Available For Chrome ~ Web Upd8: Ubuntu / Linux blog

Flash Player for Linux will only be available through a new "Pepper" API as a part of Google Chrome

According to a blog post by Adobe, after the 11.2 release, Flash Player for Linux will only be available through a new "Pepper" API as a part of Google Chrome, and won't be available as a separate download anymore. However, Adobe will continue to offer security updates for Flash Player 11.2 for Linux for five years.

Google will provide the "Pepper" Flash Player implementation for all supported Chrome platforms, including Linux (x86/64).

As for Firefox, its Wiki states that "Mozilla is not interested in or working on Pepper at this time".

Well, while I have hated Flash for many years. Since, it first came out, Actually. It has always Hung up or even Crashed every Operating System that I have used. From Windows 98 and XP to Linux, Fedora, Debian and many more Distros that I have used. It makes Web Surfing a Royal Pain, when Flash is on the Page. So, I'm Soooo Happy to see Flash on the Way Out. But, in the mean time, while HTML 5 and other avenues are being Built up... I don't want to switch from Firefox to Chrome either! Flash hangs up Chrome, just as badly as Firefox, in my experience. And I just don't like the interface of Chrome or how it works. Not to mention the Privacy Concerns, lately with Google... I use to use Gnash instead of Adobe Flash. But, it couldn't play the newest Flash Videos and Web Apps on Web Sites. So, I finally switched to Adobe Flash a few years ago. I guess we will just have to Adapt to what ever comes our way. I'm just glad that the Open Source Community, is here and usually comes up with an Alternative to these Problems, when the Need Arises!:)
