I love using my Keyboard, instead of my Mouse. When ever I can. It saves allot of time and monotonous work, while working on my Computer. I run Fedora 14 Linux and these Tips work in my Linux System too (with a few differences). The Article below, is talking about Windows OS's. So, I'm putting in some notes on using these Keyboard Short Cuts in Fedora 14. I do run into this "Over Sized Window Problem", in some Applications, from time to time. Such as with KRename. When I open it up from within Krusader, after selecting the files that I want to "Batch Rename". Sometimes the Window, goes of the left side of my screen and some of the Buttons are inaccessible. Most of the time. The Drop Down Menu, above the File Menu (Top Left Side) is Visible. And I use it (via my Mouse) to Move or Resize the Big Window, so that I can work in it. Also, if you Mouse over and Grab the Top of the Tool Bar (the Blue area at the Top, in the Screen Shot Below). You can Drag the Window Back and Forth (works in Windows too). So that you can see the area the you need to work in. But, there are times when the Menus are not Visible and you are left Guessing at where the Menu Buttons are and trying to click them Off Screen. Especially if you like to try out Live Linux Distros on CD, DVD, USB and the Video Size was not set Right on Boot. It can be a Big Problem. Even getting to the Monitor - Display Settings. So, I always try to remember my Key Board Short Cuts, for these instances. While working on my Computer. I like to keep all of my Apps at Maximum Screen Size, when I work. I don't like Paging around to see the Rest of the Window. But, if your Window is Maximized. Then the Resize Option is Not Available in this Menu. So, Remember to Unmaximize or Minimize the Window first. Before trying to use the rest of the items in this Menu or some them will not be available (See Screen Shot Below).

How to Use the Keyboard to Move or Resize a Window that is Too Big for the Screen

Normally, this little-used menu can be opened by clicking on the icon in the upper left corner of a window but there is also a keyboard shortcut to open it. Enter the keyboard combination Alt+Space Bar. An example of the menu that opens is shown in the figure on the right. The menu is used by entering the underlined letter for an action.

How to move a window using only the keyboard

Enter the keyboard combination Alt+Space Bar to open the system menu.
Type the letter “m”. (Or just use the arrow keys and hit enter to select your desired action. Remember to use "Minimize" first if your window is "Maximized")
A double-headed pointer will appear. (In Fedora 14, a Hand Icon Appears instead. But, you can use the Arrow Keys in the same way)
Then use the arrow keys to move the window up, down, right, or left.
Once the window is positioned, press “Enter”.

How to resize a window using only the keyboard

Enter the keyboard combination Alt+Space Bar to open the system menu.
Type the letter “s” (In Fedora 14 Linux use "r" for Resize, instead of "s". Or just use the arrow keys and hit enter to select your desired action)
A double-headed pointer will appear. (In Fedora 14, a Hand Icon Appears instead. But, you can use the Arrow Keys in the same way)
To make the window smaller, press the right arrow key to select the right edge of the window and then repeatedly press the left arrow to reduce the size
Press “Enter”.

It’s an old trick but you will be glad you know it if you get one of those oversized windows.
