Well, I looked at so many that I can't remember what I even sent you now... But I know they have 667mhz Memory... they should have some on sale sooner or later... Funny thing... the Gateway Specs say that that memory is 533mhz... Unless they had an upgrade on memory, here's what they are... it's pretty hard to figure out exactly what speed and all memory is from what's usually on the stick... sometimes it is on there, but most times it's not... the info is about the actual chips in the stick individually... I wonder for sure now... here's what is listed for the Gateway 5408 on the Gateway Support Site...

Well, If you're not going to do it for a few days... Let me have the Memory back today and I'll keep them until you want to try them out... Last night I was looking up the Motherboard to make sure I was looking at the right one for the machine... and I came across something on the BIOS that I hadn't seen before... Probably wouln't work But I want to try changing the jumper for the BIOS and see if something happens... What if the BIOS is indeed the problem like I thought and it can be reset...

| The 3-pin BIOS configuration jumper block determines the BIOS setup program's mode. The three modes are Normal, Configure, and Recovery. When the jumper is set to Configure mode and the computer is turned on, the BIOS compares the processor version and the microcode version in the BIOS and reports if the two match. Pin 1 is indicated by an arrow on the motherboard. |
