Rides of Futures Past - Narrow track vehicles - the convergence of the car and the motorcycle - Youtube Videos

Here's an interesting video. With bunch of Prototype, "Narrow Track Cars". Scooters with Roll Bars. And a cool Yamaha 4 wheel drive Motorcycle. Yep, a motorcycle with 4 wheels and it's a 4x4. It's only a Prototype, though. And it's a Street Bike. What I would want, is a Trail Street Model. Like we use to have in the 60's and 70's. So, I could take the Short Cut through the Woods!;) There are 3 wheeled machines too. Some have 2 wheels in front. And some have 2 wheels in back (Trikes). Which have been around since Motorcycles were first invented, in the early 1900's. But, the difference is. The wheels lean, when you turn. These things, have computer controls. To make all of this work. I wonder, what happens, when your On-board Computer gets Hacked!??? There's one, made by Nissan. That has a full Body-Shell. And I actually like the looks of this one. It leans when it turns too. Over all, there's some pretty cool Tech, in these Machines. There were plenty of the 3 wheeled Cars, back in the 60's and 70's too. I almost bought a 3 wheeled electric car, back in 1976. They were $1500, brand new. But, it only had a soft top and soft doors. It was so small. The size of a Golf Cart. I was afraid, the my new wife and baby, would get killed in it. I bought a 70SS Chevelle instead:) That was a cool Car!;) And I had my 64 Chevy Panel Truck. That I put a 454 Big Block and a Turbo 400 Auto Trans in. Hey! Gas was $0.35 (cents) a Gallon, back then. Ya, we had a fake Gas shortage, back then too... I worked for a Texaco Jobber, at the time. And I knew the truth, about what was going on... Fast Forward to now... What's more detrimental to the population? Burning up Renewable Fossil Fuel. The Earth is constantly making more, each passing day, year, month, century. And we really have no idea, how much Oil and Gas, is really in the Earth. It's all about Supply and Demand. Keeping the Profits High, for the Big Guy. That's where shortages, come from... Oil is just as "Renewable" as... Tree's are anyway. People are now calling Wood, Renewable Energy! What ever happened to "Save the Trees"! Anyway? I won't be burning up any of my Trees. Just for a few days or weeks of heat, in a Wood Stove. I use to be Cabinet Maker. I love wood. And I would like to see my Trees made into something useful. That can last a lifetime. Or how about burning up all the Corn we can grow (which Starving Children could be eating) to make Ethanol. Crappy Fuel, that ruins carburetors, fuel lines and corrodes everything it touches??? Besides, We all know that Cow Farts and the Melting Tundra. Makes more "Green House Gasses", than all of the Automobiles in the World Combined. Not to mention Factories. Do you really thing, that Making Plastics and Batteries. Is the "Green" Clean way to go? And who ever talks about Volcanoes? The Toxic fumes that comes out of just one... And there's more now than ever! And more Predicted to Explode, any day now. And don't get me started on Fraking. No, I'm not talking about that Space Show... I'm talking about the 20 or so Earth Quakes, the we had right here in my home town. After the Oil Companies, started Drilling and Fraking for Natural Gas, here. We live on a very long Fault Line, here in TX. And we never had an Earth Quake in my or my Mom's life, here. That goes back 79 years, of our personal knowledge. And these Frakin People are Causing Earth Quakes! Isn't that how Volcanoes are born. Through huge Fishers in the Earth.... At least they have stopped for now. But, I saw a report on TV. That they want to start up with the Fraking again soon. So, no, I'm not against Conservation. I'm all for it. But, lets use a little Common Sense, about it all. "Scientific Facts" are meant to be and most often are Proven Wrong. Predictions are Seldom Accurate. And Oddly and Sadly. This video is mostly about Prototypes, made from 2005 to 2013 (if I remember the years he mentioned right). The video was Uploaded on Nov 18, 2009. And it's now 2015 and I have only ever heard of or seen Pics of a couple of the Three Wheeler's, mentioned in the video... Progress, just never moves as fast. As we Visionary's, can Dream... I'm still waiting for my chance to take a Space Vacation to the Moon!

Leon Bollee 1897.
Yesterdays motorcycles. Netherlands.
ca 1897 Leon Bollee Tricar-Tricycle .
Single cylinder ca 800cc 4-stroke engine
Automatic/atmospheric inlet valve
Hot tube ignition, so there is no spark plug used for the ignition.
Instead of a spark plug ( not yet invented/perfected in 1897 ) there is a hollow tube outside the cylinder head as an extension of the combustion chamber. An external gasoline burner heats up the tube to red hot and this provides the heat/spark to ignite the compressed air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.
There is a 3-speed gearbox which works remarkably well.
Flat leather belt drive to rear wheel.
Braking is by moving the complete rear wheel with drive pulley forward against the brake block.
This also reduces the tension on the drive belt and the belt will run free on the front drive pulley.
By moving the combined hand lever / gear change lever backwards the belt drive will be tightened ( clutch ) and one is on the move again.

Here's two great Old Motorcycles, in Action. Riding together down the road. Check out the Related videos too...

An amazing affordable auto that runs on air!

AIRPod is the culmination of MDI studies on pollution and urban mobility.
This concept will be the first to leave the production line in spring 2009. MDI will respond to an invitation to tender of the city of Paris, "Autolib'", and is already the subject of applications for various municipalities.

With small size, a tiny price, zero pollution, fun and futuristic design, AIRPod mark a turning point in the range of urban vehicles while renewing the idea of the automobile and transportation. You can drive with a joystick, it only costs one euro per 200 km and leaves no one indifferent in crept in traffic.

It is a real breath of fresh air in our cities and the prelude to travel without pollution. Its small size make it easy to park, keeping still a large internal volume. AIRPod help us to forget the price of petrol.

AIRPod is part of the MDI production licence of "less than 500kg vehicles", and is manufactured in the same factories as OneFlowAir, following the original production concept proposed by MDI.

AIRPod
The standard version is designed for the transport of persons. It has four seats (3 adults and one child) and has space for luggage. It is dedicated to multiple uses as in the private and public sectors. Airports, train stations and municipalities also need a cheap, non-polluting car with high mobility.

This wehicle is changing our urban life in the city center in freeing ourselves of the prohibitive cost of petrol and offering us mobility never gained until today.

AIRPod Cargo
This carriage version with a single place has a load volume greater than one meter cube that makes deliveries easy in town. Designed for runners, messaging, and the artisans and communities, Cargo AIRPod brings Zero Pollution in institutions. The Post, factory handling and delivery are markets of choice for AIRPod Cargo.

AIRPod Baby
Two front seats and a chest of more than 500 liters, all for less than 1,80m long, it's the most extreme, a real challenge for car design. This model was created keeping in mind the most congested cities by traffic. It is a versatile which can also be used for deliveries, municipal services, roads and small logistics.

Here's a great 1937 Video.
This is Chevrolet Motor Division, General Motors - "Around The Corner" Educational Video. It has some great Motorcycle and Synchronized Car Stunts. Then it shows you How a Differential Gear, in Cars and Trucks Work. That I saw, several years ago. It was on a Car Auto Body Web Site,

http://www.networkautobody.com/Around-the-corner-automobile-documentary.wmv. But, I checked and that link, does not work today. I had checked, several years ago and I couldn't find the video, anywhere else. But, today, someone at Gizmos Freeware. Found it on YouTube. Check out the Related Videos too...

I had completely forgotten. They had one of these Cages of Steel. At the Shrine Circus, that I went to when I was a boy, too. That was the coolest motorcycle trick, that I have ever seen. They seem to ride around that thing for 30 minutes! I got dizzy, just watching them. But, I wanted to try it, so bad;) I did get a Mini bike, later on. But, I didn't have a Ball Cage;)
