Does technology equal mush for brains?

Compared to as little as twenty years ago we live in a technological heaven. We have more gadgets, widgets and watchamacallits to use and abuse than ever before. There are technological marvels to help us do everything from doing the number two in the little room to proposing to that special other.

The purpose of all of this technology is to make our lives easier and more efficient. We are supposed to apparently buy this stuff to save time and energy (never mind that the manufacturers make a buck or two out of it). However, as I mentioned before, we seem more and more to be tenders and slaves to technology than the other way around. Our little gadgets require feeding of electrons via various means. They demand our attention, often at the most inappropriate times and they have been known to separate us from our flesh and blood companions.

What do we receive in return from our electron charged friends? Quite a few things actually. We get to do more things in the same amount of time. We have access to more information than we have ever had in the history of our race. We can connect with people who would have been impossible to connect with otherwise. Business as we know it today would be impossible without technology and there is no possible way we could reach the stars or touch the bottom of the oceans without it.

Read more... unless of course you have an Text to Speech audio App for that!;)
