Wow! Now, that's a really is different Mixer. I ran sound for Bands, from the mid 80's to about 2002. And I loved the Mackie VLZ 16 to 32 Channel Analog Mixers. I've used Yamaha, Behringer and a few other Mixers. Including Powered Mixers with Sliders and Knob only models. I'm use to using a Rack full of Outboard Gear to make the sound better. Compressors, Limiters, 3rd Octave EQ's, Efx, Spectrum Analyzers, Active Cross Overs and such, were pretty much a Necessity to get sound good. I've used Crown, Yourkville, Peavy, and QSC Amps. EV, Peavy, JBL, Renkus-Heinz, Yamaha and many other Brands of PA Cabinets and Floor Monitors. And of course Shure SM-58 and 57, Sennheiser and a few other brands of Microphones. And the know how to setup and use them, makes all of the deference too. I ran a web Site, http://bishopco.com/ selling Pro Audio - Video Gear from 2002 - 2005. I couldn't compete with the Big Boys, who sell Gear for Cheaper than I could buy it, Wholesale. So, I kept the site and focused on my own Music. I love my Audio Gear. So, I would definately like to try out this new Line 6 Gear. It really is a whole new Animal. They say that a non Sound Tech can use this Line 6 Gear and get a good mix. I write songs and sing and record now. And I would like to try out some of this new Line 6 Stuff. Mostly for Recording and Digitizing my Songs. I know they have made some pretty decent Guitar Amps and Efx, in recent years. So, this gear should be pretty decent too. I found a couple of Videos on the Line 6 Soundscape M20 digital mixer and the Line 6 Stagescape L3t Speakers. They are both very interesting. My first thought, when I saw the 7in Touch Screen and the knobs. Was, I don't like Mixers with Knobs (I like Sliders allot more). And my second thought was. No Way I would be using that! I couldn't even see to make out the Images on the Touch Screen. And I most likely couldn't see to work on that small screen. Without my Dollar Store Glasses and maybe a Magnifying Glass too. I would have to memorize the small stuff. Just to get around the screen. No, I'm not 80! I'm only 56. Still young enough to have some fun;) But, the mixer does have some interesting features. For a musician or singer, who is mixing from Stage. The menus look to me like, it would take forever and many "Touches" to make changes. So, I think that you would have to get everything Setup, before the Show. That could be a problem in Shows with multiple Bands. Typically, each band has only 5 to 10 minutes to get setup and ready to play, when the previous band is done. I learned to be pretty fast at Set Changes, when I was Mixing Sound for Shows (by necessity). Those new Line 6 "Intelligent" Speakers are interesting. They might actually be very useful to most anyone for a Small Show. One that doesn't need huge Speakers and allot of Wattage from the Amps. Although, they say the Line 6 Stagescape L3t Speakers, will do 1400 Watts. That's probably Peak, Not Steady or "Program Watts". I noticed. They claim that this type of Tech has never been made before. And that's a laugh! I saw a complete Auto Mixing Computer Setup at a Venue Called Footloose. Where I volunteered, back in 1990-91. The guy Set it up and Mixed everything from the Stage. It wasn't perfect, granted. It had more problems with Feedback than any of our Sound Techs ever did. But, it was out there and working, back then. All kinds of Rack Gear have had these types of "Auto Mixing" abilities (feedback suppression, compression, etc) since at least the mid 90's too. And allot of this is built into Analog - Digital Mixers, such as Mackie and Behringer Mixers Now. And has been for a few Years Now. I do like the Built in Recording Abilities of the Line 6 Soundscape M20 digital mixer. I could really get some good use out of that, for my self. When I write a new song. I could record the Vocals and then Add Music later. Or if I was doing live Mixing with it. It would be great to be able to Record Live Shows.
