In general, you should first try to find packages that were specifically made for your distribution.Do not compile from source yourself unless you are certain you have to or want to. Do not compile from git master unless you really need some specific feature that is not released yet, or want to help out developing Flumotion.

Flumotion is in my Fedora 14 Repo's and I'm installing it now to try it out. I would like to setup a Home Media Server. I got the VLC Media Server up and running a few years ago. But, it was pretty hard to setup and I never did end up using it for actual TV Watching. I'll see how Flumotion works out now... It's installed and now I'm Testing Flumotion out. Here's some commands that came up in a Setup Window...
The admin client will now connect to the manager.
Configuration files are stored in
/tmp/tmphA8TBg.flumotion/etc
Log files are stored in
/tmp/tmphA8TBg.flumotion/var/log
You can shut down the manager and worker later with the following command:
/usr/sbin/flumotion -C /tmp/tmphA8TBg.flumotion/etc -L /tmp/tmphA8TBg.flumotion/var/log -R /tmp/tmphA8TBg.flumotion/var/run stop
Well, the setup Wizard hangs up on me. And there is one option in the Manual Screen Shots, that's not in my installation. The Connect button wont do anything. But, it looks like Flumotion is running. The GUI shows up in my Running Apps area of my Panel. But it wont respond to any clicks at all, Not on the Wizard or the Flumotion GUI Window. I added port 7531 to the allowed list in my Firewall for both udp and tcp. And I have SSH up and running on my System already. I added Flumotion as a Startup Service and it is running now. "The flumotion service is started once, usually when the system is booted, runs in the background and wakes up when needed." But, I still have the same problems. Maybe it will work after a Reboot. I'll see... IF not then I guess I'll just uninstall Flumotion...
