I entered this Camera Giveaway Drawing, on MarkusPix YouTube Channel. And they asked if anyone knew of some good software. To, manage the Mailing Addresses of their Entrants. They are currently doing it all manually. By reading each entry e-mail. Then using copy and paste, to add them to Label Printing Software. Then Printing them out. To make Paper Name Labels. To Draw out of a Bag. This takes a horrendous amount of time and effort. I didn't win this time. But, I really Appreciate the Generosity of Markus and Cara. Not only Giving his Cameras Away. But, also sharing his years of experience in Photography and Videography.... So, I spent some time today. Researching Web Fill in Forms. These Forms can Parse the Data for you. And some even can auto - randomly pick a Winner in a Drawing. I started building my own Web Sites, in 1999. I used to put Surveys on some of my Pages and sometimes I would send them in HTML emails to friends. It's been a few years, since I did this. So, I did some research, to see what was available on the Web these days. There are several ways to put Forms on Web Pages. You can host the Form on your Web Sites Server. Or a Remote Services Server. They can be free or paid. And there are several different Web Site Programming Languages or Codes, you can use. HTML, HTML5, Java, PHP, ASP.net etc... I find HTML5 (the newest version of html) to be the easiest one to learn. It works on Apache Web Server and most others as well. You can use Form Code Generators and easily copy and paste the code into your Web Site. HTML5 Code will work well. I have used Java codes in the past. And it is easy to paste them in as well. But, Java has always had so many Security Problems. Code Injection is easy to do with Java Code. Since, it calls objects from other Servers, that you have no control over. I had a Web Site Visitor Counter Code on my Web Site for Years. One day, I went to my Site. And Adds to some Game Site, was Popping Up. I had to spend a lot of time, Days... Figuring out if the Site was Serving up Malware and how to find and get it off of my site! I wasn't sure where it was coming from. I searched the HTML Code on my Entire Site. And found nothing, pointing to the Game Site. I knew about Code Injection. But, I didn't know a lot. So, I did a bunch of research on Code Injection. And finally figured out. The Site - Server, which used to Host the Free Web Page Counter. Had been taken over by this Game Site. It was your typical Flashing Add, very Suspect Type of Site. I deleted all of the Java Code on my Site. Which was pointing to that Page Visit Counter. And finally, the Popups Were Gone. I'm sure it could be done with HTML5 and others as well. But, I haven't seen a lot of reports of this, with HTML5, over the years. So, I've gathered some links to my Research. I don't know exactly what Markus wants. But, this narrows it down alot, believe it or not...
Thanks Markus and Cara,
Don
