Hi,
I was just curious to know what GPU you use. If you bought an ATI GPU (or even Nvidia for that matter) recently, you should be able to run ighashgpu. If you are under Linux, you may wanna try Pyrit. It's a GPU racking tool to crack WiFi passwords.
Vijay.

Hey Vijay,

Thanks for the info!:) I took a look at my Newest ATI Video Card info. I'm running Fedora 14 in this Machine (No Windows on this Box). The ATI Catalyst Control Center, says it's an ATI Radeon HD 4550 Card. And that is in the list of Supported Cards!:O

ATI Catalyst Control Center, says it's an ATI Radeon HD 4550 Card

I did some digging around in files on my Computer. And it looks like I mistook the Hardware Lister info to be correct for my New ATI Card. It shows a Radeon HD 4350 Video Card.

So, I'm so glad you asked me that question, about what GPU I use:) But, I still can't try out the "ighashgpu" App on this System. It's Fedora 14 Linux and I don't currently have any plans to put Windows on this System. It would be nice if there was a Linux version of "ighashgpu" too. Here's the info from Hardware Lister on my ATI Video Card...

*-display
                description: VGA compatible controller
                product: RV710 [Radeon HD 4350] [1002:954F]
                vendor: ATI Technologies Inc [1002]
                physical id: 0
                bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
                version: 00
                width: 64 bits
                clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm pciexpress msi vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom
                configuration: driver=radeon latency=0

My older P4 has an NVIDIA GeForce 4 (440) / 64MB DDR / AGP 8x / VGA / TV Out / Low-Profile / Video Card. Not in the supported list.

I'll check out "Pyrit". Looks like it will take some time to Compile and get "Pyrit" installed and running...

Pyrit compiles and runs on Linux, FreeBSD and MacOS. Windows is not (and probably never will be) supported; there are however some reports of successful installations on Windows with the help of MinGW.
Pyrit consists of basically two parts:
  • The main module features the commandline-client, the scheduling- and database-code and a basic extension-module that uses the CPU for computation. The main module is required for everyone...
  • There are currently two extension modules that add support for more advanced hardware. The extension modules for Nvidia-CUDA and OpenCL may be installed optionally and are used if available and supported by local hardware.
You can choose between OpenCL and CUDA if you have a compatible Nvidia-GPU; you may want to take a look at this page to find out if your hardware supports Nvidia-CUDA. People with GPUs from ATI are supported through AMD's OpenCL-implementation and may find this page of interest; other possible OpenCL-platforms like IBM's Cell B.E. (that powers the Playstation 3) should work but are untested at the moment.

Compiling from sources

Compiling from source-code is the preferred way of getting Pyrit onto your system.
