BlueGriffon, The next-generation Web Editor based on the rendering engine of Firefox

BlueGriffonTM

The next-generation Web Editor
based on the rendering engine of Firefox

BlueGriffon is a new WYSIWYG content editor for the World Wide Web. Powered by Gecko, the rendering engine of Firefox 4, it's a modern and robust solution to edit Web pages in conformance to the latest Web Standards.

It's free to download (current stable version is 1.0) and is available on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

BlueGriffon is available in English, French, Czech, German , Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish.

BlueGriffon is an intuitive application that provides Web authors (beginners or more advanced) with a simple User Interface allowing to create attractive Web sites without requiring extensive technical knowledge about Web Standards.

Because Gecko lives inside BlueGriffon, the document you edit will look exactly the same in Firefox 4. Advanced users can always use the Source View to hard-code their page.

BlueGriffon is tri-licensed under the Mozilla Public License 1.1, the GNU General Public License Version 2 and the GNU Lesser General Public License Version 2.1.

I was pleased to find an article on this App Today, BlueGriffon 1.0 Released: Open Source WYSIWYG Web Editing Comes Back to Linux. So I downloaded it and went to work on one of my Web Pages to try it out. I wanted to add some links and change the Font Color. It's a pretty good looking App. With plenty of features and easy to figure out. Well, except one Usually Simple little thing... I have searched for at least 20 minutes for a way to change the Font Colors. And there is nothing to be found in any of the Minues!:O I even looked on their Web Site and ended up on their Google Group, asking this Question... Is there a way to change Font Colors in the Graphic Interface? And Not having to know what font numbers go with which colors...

I was thinking that BlueGriffon could Replace KompoZer, which is a complete web authoring system that combines web file management and easy-to-use WYSIWYG web page editing. It cam out after NVU Development Stopped.

NVU - Finally! A complete Web Authoring System for Linux Desktop, Microsoft Windows and Macintosh users to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (pronounced N-view, for a "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.
Enter Nvu Site

KOMPOZER - NVU 1.0, released in June 2005, is the last official release that you will find at most download sites, however, it isn't the newest or best version of the Nvu software. An unofficial bugfix/update called "KompoZer" is available here. KompoZer is not a cure-all for all the bugs in NVU 1.0, but it does fix some of the major annoyances. If you use NVU 1.0 and it works for you, stick with it. But if you run into problems, give KompoZer a try and see if it helps.

But, for now. I will stick with KompoZer for my Simple HTML Editing Tasks...
