Peavey IPR 1600 Power Amplifier | Parts-Express.com
I love Crown Amps... But, this Peavey Amp sounds pretty good for the price...
The groundbreaking IPR series utilizes an advanced design that allows Peavey engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability and thermal efficiency. IPR Series amplifiers are designed with a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available. This revolutionary amplifier offers the sonic superiority and unsurpassed reliability for which Peavey is famous, in an extremely efficient and lightweight design. Advanced technology and extensive protection circuitry allow operation with greater efficiency into difficult loads and power conditions. The DDT™ (Distortion Detection Technique) circuitry ensures trouble-free operation into loads as low as 2 ohms. DDT protects drivers and ensures that sonic integrity is maintained, even in extreme overload conditions. The IPR's high-efficiency design allows the amplifier to operate at very low temperatures, and does not require massive heat sinks to cool.

Great amp, Easy on the bank and back! Wednesday, September 8, 2010 hockey_head from Shortsville, ny
I found out how to run it bridged, so I bought one. To bridge, Y into both inputs and use speaker out as follows: channel 1 (A) +, channel 2 (B) -. That's it 1600 watts at 4ohms. Running my subwoofers at live band shows works well. Only problem so far came when using undersized, long extension power cords provided to me at quirky outdoor shows. Limiter tends to "freak out" at higher volumes. When supplying the amp with proper voltage/current however, amp performs just fine. Thinking of replacing another 15 lb. amp with one of these (or two) 'cuz my back is thanking me. It's really cool to use one molded rack case for an entire sound system (eq's, crossover, effects, power center and amps) about 30 lbs. I love this new technology stuff...........

Heavy Performance Light Weight Friday, March 26, 2010 Mark Scott from Saugus, CA
Have used the amp on a test basis only.Very basic type amp. Since it was SO light in weight I had to open it up to see what was inside. Again very bare bones. The largest electronic was the fan. Still building a newer system so I will be able to use the amp on a full time basis soon.Price /Weight seems to be a good price point. Much better than my old huge heat sync Bose 1801 amp, go google that beast.

I hope lightweight doesn't equal cheap Sunday, March 7, 2010 chris from ponca city, oklahoma
For an amplifier this powerful, it sure doesn't weigh much. Light as a feather. I used it at a new college baseball stadium along with a couple of Peavey Quadra 12 speakers. The place rocked. The 100hz high pass crossover was a selling point. That way, lovers of excessive bass will not blow the speakers apart. I was pleased.
