SSSD - Trac

SSSD - System Security Services Daemon

SSSD is a system daemon. It's primary function is to provide access to identity and authentication remote resource through a common framework that can provide caching and offline support to the system. It provides PAM and NSS modules, as well as D-BUS based interfaces. It provides also a better database to store local users as well as extended user data.

If you're looking for information on configuring SSSD, there is a HOWTO available.

If you would like to contribute to the SSSD, a good place to start would be our Contributions page.

I found this in my Fedora 13 Repo's. I wasn't able to configure itself and it conflicted with, nscd (This is a daemon which handles passwd and group lookups \ for running programs and cache the results for the next \ query.  You should start this daemon if you use \ slow naming services like NIS, NIS+, LDAP, or hesiod.). So I un-installed it for now...
