THE BOSS HOSS MOTORCYCLE LOOKS SO BIG AND HEAVY; IS IT DIFFICULT TO RIDE?

The fact is that a Boss Hoss is easier to ride than other cruisers. It has a low center of gravity and the aluminum heads reduce “off center” weight. The bike is remarkably easy to pick up when lifting from the upright position, and once upright, people are amazed with how easy it is to keep the bike balanced. You can actually let go of the handle bars and move the bike side to side with your knees. In addition to the fantastic balance, the one unique feature that makes driving a Boss Hoss a snap, even for a novice rider, is its proprietary semi-automatic transmission. Unlike any other large bike, it eliminates the need to shift. There is no clutch.

JUST HOW HEAVY IS IT?

The two-wheel model with the ZZ4 350 C.I. weighs 1100 lbs. The trike with the same engine weighs 1500 lbs. Because of the tremendous HP, the bike moves like it weighs nothing. However, when cruising, that 1100 lbs. makes you feel like you’re riding on air, but with a solid feeling of control.

WHAT ABOUT THE ENGINE?

The engine is a 350 cubic inch, high-performance Chevrolet, similar to what is in the new Corvettes. It is called a ZZ4 and produces 355 HP and about 400 ft/lbs. of torque. This engine, the small-block Chevrolet, is undoubtedly one of the best-engineered engines in automotive history. It is small, extremely reliable, and produces tremendous HP for its size.

HOW DOES THE TRANSMISSION WORK?

The transmission is really an engineering feat. It is a two speed automatic transmission with reverse, transversely mounted and transitioned into a General Motors' bell housing and torque converter, via a ring and pinion gear mechanism. The forward-drive gear is good for a top speed of 125 mph. For those so inclined, there is also a true 2nd gear overdrive that can be utilized at any speed over 50 MPH. For additional safety, when the transmission is shifted into reverse at the foot shifter, you have to activate an electrical control button located on the left hand control. This assures a safe and smooth backward movement. The final drive belt is a beefy 2-inch belt that eliminates vibrations for a smoother ride.

HOW ABOUT FUEL ECONOMY AND HOW MUCH DOES THE TANK HOLD?

The tank holds 8.5 gallons. Riders tell us they get 20-25 miles per gallon, which gives you a 150-175 mile range on a full tank of gas.

WITH THE WEIGHT AND HORSEPOWER, HOW EASY IS IT TO STOP?

Stopping a Boss Hoss is a dream come true with Brembo racing brakes as standard equipment. This is an Italian manufacturer that makes brakes for Formula One cars, and other racing applications. Companies like Porsche and Ferrari use these brakes on their racecars. Duel front brakes are standard on the Boss Hoss and these four-piston units work beautifully. Large tires with greater surface area contribute to increased safety and controlled ability to stop in an emergency situation.

WHEN I PURCHASED MY LAST BIKE, I SPENT THOUSANDS ON CHROME, ENGINE WORK, AND ACCESSORIES. WHAT WILL I HAVE TO SPEND IN EXTRAS TO TRICK OUT MY BOSS HOSS?

At BC Boss Hoss know that a person who buys one of our bikes wants their ride to be something really special. When you select a bike from our inventory, you would be hard-pressed to spend additional money making it just right.

If a person wants a special paint design and/or color that we don’t have in stock, we keep extra primered body works on hand. If you like, you can sit with one of our painters and design your own personal paint scheme, or you can work with a painter of your choice.

All of our bikes come with custom aluminum polished wheels, polished brake calipers, chrome brake discs, stainless brake lines, stainless control lines, complete chrome front ends, chrome hand and foot controls, a chrome starter, a chrome alternator, chrome rear swing arms, custom foot pegs, and many other custom options. However, if we missed something you want, we can install it for you.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT SERVICE?

Boss Hoss motorcycles probably require less maintenance than most other motorcycles made. Most General Motors fuel injected engines are designed to get 100,000 miles for the first tune up. Regular oil changes and routine maintenance are all that should be required after break-in and adjustments. BC Boss Hoss is a full service dealership and our mechanics have many years of experience working on both V Twin and V-8 engines and can take care of any needed service and repairs.

Another huge benefit of the Boss Hoss engine is that it is a Chevrolet. If you happen to have a problem on the road on a Sunday, etc., you can get parts any place, any time. It is also an engine any experienced auto mechanic could repair.

SOME OF MY FRIENDS HAVE THOSE HOT ROD V-TWINS FOR BAR HOPPING AND A DIFFERENT BIKE FOR CRUISING AND LONG TRIPS. I DON’T WANT TO INVEST IN TWO BIKES, BUT I’M NOT SURE WHICH ONE FITS MY NEEDS BEST. HOW WOULD YOU CATEGORIZE A BOSS HOSS?

That is a great concern for many riders, and one of the reasons the Boss Hoss is such a great bike. The Boss Hoss is one of the most manageable motorcycles in the world. However, if you have a need for speed and acceleration, absolutely nothing even comes close to a Boss Hoss. Zero to sixty can be accomplished in a mere 3.3 seconds. On the other hand, if you want to cruise, this is the ultimate cruiser. It is so smooth on the highway and just purrs at the speed limit. Both you and any passenger on board will be at ease, and you can go for hours in relaxation and comfort.

WHAT KIND OF WARRANTY COMES WITH A NEW BIKE?

New motorcycles come with a one-year warranty, which covers virtually every part of the bike.

I'm a long time Chevy guy and my favorite Motors are the 350, 402 and 454's. This Bike should be everything they claim it to be. But, I've never seen one in real life. Maybe one day;)...
