Can I build such a system myself?
Yes you can, and are free to try! Details of our hardware setup can be found here. We would be excited to see similar systems appear to see how far this concept can be pushed, and to increase overall stability. To do so, you will need to overcome several obstacles:
- Some form of suspension is needed to keep the cards in place. There is still plenty of room for improvement, as the current crowded setup makes tinkering a complicated task.
- You will need a custom BIOS from ASUS. Keep in mind that ASUS accepts no liability whatsoever, nor do we. Check out the blog for updates on the availability of this BIOS.
- You will need a customized 64-bit Linux kernel that performs memory address space allocation on boot. We will make a patch available soon on the blog.
Finally, be prepared to face additional and unexpected challenges along the way. It makes the final experience even more rewarding!
