Ok, here's the deal. Limewire is a Gnutella based P2P (Peer to Peer) File sharing Program. meaning that you are sharing files with other computers online. You both download and server files to other users of the software. I'm sure using it is allot like other P2P Programs. There are benefits and risks. The benefits would be getting and sharing files that you and they want with others online. The risks would be, first download a Virus or Trojan or a Worm unaware, as well as getting into copyright infringement problems if your not careful. I use Bit Torrent which is another type of P2P File sharing Protocol, to download some things. And it can be confusing figuring out what it ok and not ok to download. And for sure, you gotta test every file for viruses before you open them up... Shareza is a good free Windows based P2P  Program which also speeds up downloads. I looked over the Limewire site and it says that it is based on the Gnutella software. Gnutella is completely free and Open Source software. But one thing I don't like about Limewire, is that they have a limited free edition and they charge fees for the faster downloading "Pro" edition... Which goes against everything that Open Source Stands for! They shouldn't even call it Open Source...  I would look around for another Gnutella Based software that is actually free, if I were going to get into using this kind of software. I would stay away from Morpheus though. Here's what I found on the subject...
