  • Tanking Begins On Time, Weather Remains 30 Percent Chance of Favorable Weather

    Fueling of space shuttle Atlantis’s external fuel tank with more than 500,000 gallons of liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen began on time at NASA Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39A at 2:01 a.m. EDT. The launch team will closely monitor the weather throughout the process. Weather remains at a 30 percent chance of favorable weather for liftoff at 11:26 a.m. Teams are not working any issues that would delay the launch.

Space shuttle Atlantis is set to liftoff July 8 on the final flight of the shuttle program, STS-135, a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. Atlantis will carry a crew of four and the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module containing supplies and spare parts for the space station. The STS-135 astronauts are: Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim.

I've been watching it live, since about 3:30AM, TX Time. I'll probably have to go to Sleep before the launch, even if it goes as planned. But, I'm saving the Stream to watch later;)
