To install ArtistX  yu will need 512 MB of Ram and at least 20 GB of Hard Disk (also in VirtualBox).

Backup, backup, backup.

Save your most important files on an external hard disk or DVD.

Burn ArtistX on a DVD, put it in your DVD reader and reboot your computer. You should see this screen: just press enter on your keyboard.

 Then you will see ArtistX loading, please wait. When the Desktop has loaded double-click on the "INSTALL" icon. Desktop background and overall graphics may change, but the installation is still the same.

 Select you language, location and keyboard layout. We used for this example the typical settings of a US user:

 If you plan to install ArtistX on a computer with Windows please backup your data first.

We strongly syuggest to use a separate hard disk for ArtistX if you are new to GNU/Linux systems.

After the localization settings the Partitioner will start. This image will change depending on your computer's configuration.8.png

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Now enter your user informations:

Confirm your choices and wait for the installation to finish. The following window may disappear during the installation: don't worry as long as you the hard drive is running you are installing ArtistX .

After the installation please remove the two files into the /etc/cups/ssl directory or printing will not work.

OPTIONAL STEPS (recommended):

 Open as the super user the grub configuration file (Menu -> Accessories -> Terminal -> sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst) and add "vga=792" to the defoptions line as shown in this picture:

Save and exit  the application gedit.

Write "sudo update-grub" as shown here:

You are done: reboot the computer and enjoy your new ArtistX !!!
